Hello Dear Friends!
I’ve noticed today everyone being nicer and appreciating each other even more than usual. I’m lucky to have myself surrounded by such wonderful people on a daily basis! We had a lovely little work gathering this morning. Once you walk in, you are led up the stairs to our party spot!
We had a little Valentine’s party this morning full of Dunkin Donuts coffee and heart shaped doughnuts as well as Chickfila biscuits. OMG- did you know those come heart shaped, too?? Why can’t this happen every day??
Doesn’t this just make you happy to see all these sweet things? My contribution was those yummy frosted cookies for everyone..
Look at all the goodies I got! Um, yes… those ARE fleece Valentine PJ pants. How amazing is Sandra??
I just think celebrating days like this puts a little pep in everyone’s step. I love it so I hope our little work family loves it, too!
For our internal website at work, MyrtleBeachResorts.com, I did a fun social experiment. We made a little 49 second clip with our favorite pick up lines and in turn, want our customers to share this video with their Valentine’s! Basically, ‘Pick Me Up’ and Take me to Myrtle Beach for Valentine’s is my thinking. Also- if you want to participate, I’ve asked everyone to share their favorite Pick Up Lines using #DropAHintMB. I’m sharing the best ones on our website! Here’s my first little video:
And to top it all off and get lovey-dovey for a second… we have to have some ‘luvvv’ up in this Valentine’s Day blog post. I hope everyone has their very special person to hang out with today. I am absolutely Loving John Legend’s latest song and just wanted to share it with you guys. It’s so beautiful..
Valentine’s Day is TOMORROW!!!!
If you’re like me, I like to wait to the last minute to paint a fabulous set of nails for the big day or event I’m going to. Just for no chipping really.. I need to find you more about those gel nails.
Anywho, tomorrow is a fun day full of love and hearts so what better way than to have a quick and easy Valentine’s Day manicure? Not only is it easy, it’s pretty fool proof. Here are your steps:
First, pull out your favorite color of red and pink nail polish. Paint each nail an alternating color. Make sure they dry all the way before the next step.
Next, you’re going to use tape to block off the middle. I’ve used all sorts of tape but painters green tape works the best and has the least ‘mess-ups’. Cut tiny strips and press firmly so you have no little air pockets on where you are going to paint.
Paint red on your pink nails and pink on your red nails. Don’t wait for it to dry. Go ahead and peel off your tape. If it dries, you’ll run the risk of having chips.
Let these dry for about 4-5 minutes before you put your clear top coat on. That way, it won’t smudge at all.
I like to get a little funky with things- on my left ring finger, I added a gray heart. This is SUPER easy. Just dip a toothpick into your gray polish and paint a tiny heart. Good thing hearts come in all shapes and sizes so no way you can mess up.
Now… all you have to do is find a hot date to show them off! Enjoy ladies:)
Today, I have a special treat for you! Naomi is a fellow blogger from California and wanted to share some of her favorite football recipes she likes to serve at parties. If only she was around for OUR Superbowl party, I know she would have made real quick friends with these delicious dishes! Without further ado…
Football snack recipes should be easy to make, easy to eat. There’s no better time to ditch the forks and knives and reconfigure your fingers to accommodate hot wings, deviled eggs, nachos and burgers. Eat with one hand, cheer with the other!
The Offensive Unit
Start the meal with something creative. Deviled eggs are delish, but football-themed deviled eggs raise the bar. And, while crispy food is a gameday must, skip the mozzarella balls this year and go for full-on Jalapeño Poppers.
Super Bowl Deviled Eggs
( Ingredients for 10 to 12 servings )
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
12 hard-cooked eggs, peeled
½ cup mayo
3 tablespoons mango chutney
⅛ teaspoon ground red pepper
Kosher salt to taste
Sliced chives, to garnish
First, cut the eggs lengthwise. Remove the yolks and mash them up with the mayo, chutney and red pepper till smooth. Spoon the mixture back into the egg white halves, sprinkle salt and start designing that football pattern out of the chives. Refrigerate.
Baked Jalapeño Poppers
(Ingredients for 6 servings (4 poppers per person))
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
⅓ cup whipped cream cheese
⅓ cup ricotta cheese
½ cup grated Monterey Jack Cheese
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
12 medium fresh jalapeño peppers, halved lengthwise, seeded and deveined
¼ cup all purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 large egg
2 tablespoons water
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
A pinch of cayenne pepper
Spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Stir the cheeses and parsley in a bowl and fill each jalapeño half with the mixture.
On a plate, combine the flour, half of the salt and pepper. Beat the egg in a new bowl with the water. Now grab another plate and mix one cup of the breadcrumbs, the rest of the salt and pepper, paprika, garlic powder and cayenne.
Now the fun part: dip each jalapeño in the flour first, then in the egg wash and finally in the breadcrumbs. Place them, cut side up, on the baking sheet and spray lightly to coat with oil. Bake until golden and crisp, about 30 minutes.
The Defensive Unit
Now that we’ve had a taste of a few touchdowns, it’s time to really dig in. For the mains, don’t lose the finger food mantra from your mind and try some real simple, but delicious dishes, like a chips and guac grilled cheese sandwich or some oven fried spicy wings.
Chips and Guacamole Grilled Cheese
(Ingredients for 4 sandwiches)
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
8 slices of bacon
8 large tortilla chips
4 tablespoons room temperature butter
8 slices sourdough bread
½ cup guacamole
2 tablespoons peeled, seeded and diced Roma tomatoes
4 ounces Colby cheese, grated
4 ounces Monterey Jack, grated
4 ounces goat cheese
First, line a plate with paper towels and crisp the bacon in a skillet. Drain and remove the bacon fat from the pan.
For the tortilla butter, put the chips in a food processor and get them fine and sandy. Add them to your butter and mix well. Now spread the mixture on one side of each slice of bread and place 4 of them, butter side down, on your work surface.
It’s time to spread the guacamole on each slice of bread, sprinkle tomato on top and add the cheeses and the bacon. Top with the remaining slices, butter side up.
Heat a large nonstick pan over medium heat, put the sandwiches in and brown each side. Just be careful the chips don’t burn and press with a spatula so that the sandwiches get compressed. Let cool, cut and serve.
Oven-Fried Buffalo Wings
(Ingredients for 4 to 8 servings)
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
4 pounds chicken wings, cut into drumettes and flats
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 stick unsalted butter
1 cup Hot Sauce
Blue cheese dressing
Line rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and set rack inside. Dry the wings and put ⅓ in a large bowl with 1 teaspoon baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt. Toss till coated and place on rack, leaving enough space between each wing. Repeat till you get all your wings done. Now the rack goes in the fridge for at least 8 hours and up to 18, so make sure you take your time for this one.
Preheat oven to 450 F and place your oven rack in the middle position. Add chicken wings and cook for 20 minutes. Flip, and cook for another 15 to 20.
Meanwhile, mix the butter with hot sauce in a pan and cook over medium heat till combined. Transfer your wings to a large bowl, add the sauce, toss and serve with the blue cheese dip and the celery sticks.
Special Teams Unit
Ok, you’re probably full right now. But there’s still room for a cute dessert!
Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Football Edition
(Ingredients for 24 pieces)
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
24 large strawberries
8 ounces chocolate candy coating
¼ cup white candy coating
All you need to do is make sure your washed strawberries are super dry, get your chocolate candy coating melted in the microwave and dip. Let the excess chocolate drip back into the bowl and line them up on a baking sheet lined with waxed paper.
Refrigerate for about 15 minutes and, in the meantime, melt the white candy coating and pour it into a paper cone or plastic bag with a small hole cut in the corner.
Draw the lace pattern with the white chocolate on each strawberry and let dry again.
And voila! You have a menu worthy for your favorite football game and the hardcore fans and groupies. Go forth, cook, drink beer, cheer and repeat.

1. I ate a cup full of doughnut holes this morning and all I want now is a World’s Finest Chocolate bar from Sunni’s box downstairs. I’m going to say that since it’s Valentine’s Week.. all chocolate all the time is acceptable.
Which makes me remember the little present I got from my email this morning from Zazzle- They are giving away free chocolate bars with any toppings you want. When I see Free I’m like OKAY so I put a lot of time really thinking of what toppings I wanted on it and then… they got me with the $5 shipping. I didn’t go through with it just on principle.. it’s not free ( that’s probably why I want a World’s Finest right now) but if you need a quick present for your sweetie, use my codes!
Crazy codes that no one could ever remember and probably type in wrong:
(that’s only 2 bars so use them before someone beats you to it)
2. How ticked I was the other morning that I had to give Sasquatch a 6 am impromptu bath because he ‘squatched’ himself. stinky cat…
3. I’m ready for a relaxing night in- all I have to do tonight is sketch for school… and watch Juan Pablo
4. After getting out of town for a day trip to Wilmington, all of the artsy folk in the city inspire me to want to craft… maybe like this tie wallet… cool, eh?
5. How much I love sketching and making new ideas… I despise Art 101. Don’t get me wrong, I like the things we learn about but having to have timed quizzes (12 questions in 5 minutes) stress me out and make my palms sweat. #timedquizzessuck #istillmakeA’s
6. Also on my trip this week, I went to cool places. A) I think beer crafting is cool now but I think I still prefer to drink it than make it myself
B) Underground railroad locations turned into bars are really cool. Learning that the bartender gets visited by ghost there is really creepy
7. I still like Valentine’s if I don’t have a Valentine which could be kind of depressing? Moving on.. I’m loving my friends so much that after handwriting 32 Valentine’s day cards.. they better know I love them. This is much like making french macaroons for people- if you get these, I love you, like a lot.
8. We’ll just end on another chocolate note. So yummy.
