However you spend it… you can do it stylishly.
Breezy Cheetah Pop will still love you no matter what!
I’m sitting here watching the Golden Globes and I love the glam feel of everything. Tina Fey and Amy Pohler’s opening jokes are just on another level of funny. They make you feel as if everyone is best friends and it’s just a night out dressed up and drinking. I wonder how it would feel to be in a room with all of these interesting people? Would Julia Roberts gossip about how Jennifer Lawrence beat her at Best Supporting Actress? Would Kerry Washington ask you for an Altoid before her big win? No, probably not because I would most likely sit in the back but… a girl can dream.
Some of the dresses tonight are amazing and some have totally missed the mark. I mean, not to be all Fashion Police-y but, this is the most prestigious awards of your career.. don’t wear a boring dress or one that fits you badly. I mean, don’t they see what they look like in a mirror? Ok- I’ll be nice and start out with some of my favorites…
Favorite of the night:
Cate Blanchett- Armani- THIS is a Golden Globes dress. It’s striking and memorable. I absolutely love it.
Jennifer Lawrence – I thought it was a little bit of a strange choice for her especially with all of her hype for the award. Don’t get me wrong, this dress is very elegant but unexpected. I like the fact that you really see ‘her’ more than the dress with her spunky hair and accessories. Overall, I’m going to go with this as a top dress… Probably just because of my girl crush.
Kaley Cuoco- Rani Zakhem- I don’t usually like a dress that accentuates the boob area but I really liked the flow-y full skirt and the pattern. Plus, I’ve really been into this hair style lately. Looks so chic.
The year of RED
Tina Fey- Carolina Herrara- I think this was the perfect dress for a host to wear. The pattern made it different but the colors were so pretty with the red carpet. What you don’t see but you saw on the carpet, the inside is reversed out black flowers on a red background- love the design.
Amy Adams- Valentino- Another gorgeous red for the carpet. She looked fantastic. Hair, not so much. For my Christmas party, I’m always looking for a great red dress but so many in Myrtle Beach have those gaudy multicolored crystals all over them or are a ugly red color. Maybe next year, I’ll have to check Valentino.
Lupita Nyong’o is a newcomer but her dress was so elegant. It reminded me of that white dress Gwyenth Paltrow wore (maybe last year?). It may be a timeless cut but the color really modernizes it.
Kerry Washington- Balenciaga- I never ever like dresses that women who are pregnant wear on the red carpet however, I LOVE Kerry’s. It showcases her baby bump and makes me think of her as a mother instead of .. what can I fit into and look decent. I think they designed the perfect dress that is carpet worthy but also shows off her womanhood.
On the other hand..
Olivia Wilde- Gucci Premiere- I’m sorry to say this because I love you but I think the skin tight sequined baby bump is just a little too much. It reminds me of Leslie Mann in knocked up arguing with the bouncer on trying to get her and her pregnant sister into the club. haha
Which is a nice segway to
Leslie Mann- I am a sucker for a peplem especially in black lace. Well done!
My TWO SURPRISE Dresses
Sofia Vergara – This dress is so over the top that I love it. The skirt is phenomenal and she just rocks it.
Maria Menounos- I think fashion blogs are not going to be taking kindly to this dress because of the color but I think it can’t be overlooked. Total Bombshell.
Sandra Bullock- When a bad dress happens to good people. Hate it for Sandra but she looks like a baby shower reveal cake. Stick with black.
Paula Patton- I don’t really know this person but her dress basically ate her anyway. I didn’t see her until she presented an award. Unless you’re Lady Gaga… less is more.
Julia Roberts- Dolce & Gabbana- Okay.. I can see she’s going for a look but .. this isn’t it. It makes her look old when she really needed to be competing against Jennifer Lawrence. Let’s work on this next year, Julia.
Lena Dunham- Yeah… I never like the things she wears. I get that she’s different and trying to make a statement but I think a cool pattern or even a high neck would have done the job. Again, accentuating the boob area.. not a smart choice.
Zooey Deschanel- Oscar de la Renta- I hate to do this but this isn’t my favorite. I’m dying over the shoes but I think this makes her look a little matronly. She’s so quirky and fun, let’s do a color or something. Pretty overall but not feeling it for the Golden Globes.
Drew Barrymore- Monique Lhuillier- This is my worst for the night. Drew is known for being edgy and fun. She might be pregnant, so I apologize and don’t know but this dress looks like something I had in middle school that I deemed my ‘church dress’ and that is the only place it was worn. Little girl approved.

So that is my two cents whether you wanted it or not. Let me know which dresses were your favorites or.. not so favorite!
Valentine’s Day is coming up and I wanted to share a sweet treat with y’all. Over the weekend, I tried out the BEST chocolate cake recipe. I really haven’t experimented with chocolate cake much but this one.. “takes the cake” haha. I adapted this recipe from AddAPinch.com but have made a few alterations below.
For the Valentine portion… this recipe makes a whole large cake however, I like to do special things for Valentine’s Day so I made 2 mini cakes. They are about as long as a dollar and have 2 layers. They are precious. Surprise your sweetie with this little cake!
BREE’S VALENTINE’S CHOCOLATE CAKE FOR TWO
Ingredients for the Cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegatable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 cup boiling water
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Prepare two 6-inch pans by spraying with Pam baking cooking spray.
In a mixing bowl, combine your flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Whisk through with your paddle attachment or stir until well combined.
Add in your milk, vegetable oil, eggs and vanilla to the flour mixture and mix on medium until well combined. Reduce speed and carefully add your boiling water to the batter. Beat on high for about 1 minute to add air to the batter. (note- my batter was pretty runny so be sure that when you start to up the speed, put a towel around the edges of your bowl so it doesn’t shoot out! haha) Your batter will be a little more liquid than it would be with other cakes I’ve made. Don’t worry though- it bakes up fluffy with the baking powder and soda.
To make even layers, get your ice cream scoop out as if you were scooping for cupcakes. I just did an even amount of scoops for each baking tin- 10 scoops each. (will make 4 layers in all – 2 cakes) Bake for about 18-20 minutes. Check and see if it’s cooked all the way through with the toothpick test. (If toothpick comes out with wet batter, cook a few minutes more and then test again)
Remove layers from the tins and allow to cool on a wire rack.
Chocolate Frosting Ingredients:
3 sticks of butter (1 1/2 cups)
1 cup cocoa
5 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Add cocoa to your mixing bowl (after it’s cleaned from your batter, of course!). Melt butter and whisk into the cocoa until well combined. Now it’s time for the sugar and milk. Start by adding a cup of sugar, then a tablespoon of milk. Then another cup of sugar, then a tablespoon of milk and so on until it’s finished up. Add in vanilla extract.
My frosting needed a little more powdered sugar to hold it’s form. Yours might need more sugar (if too wet) or more milk (if too dry). Just be sure to add a little at a time. A little goes a long way!
I frosted my layers once completely cooled and then added a few baby chocolate chips to the top to make it pretty. I shared with family and work friends and all LOVED this cake. I just love how cute and small it is.
I had very high hopes of this week- getting back into the blog everyday, catching up on projects before school starts Monday and taking fun lunches everyday since I won’t be able to anymore when school starts. That all came crashing down after Tuesday morning.
I got something. I don’t know what but apparently, it was building up Monday… the day I got my flu shot because Good Morning America told me to… and all sickness escalated quickly. Today, I am just getting back to ‘me’ a little bit but it was touch and go there for a little while.
I slept in on Tuesday with Sasquatch- which was a very good sleeping partner.. I guess he does this all day when I’m at work?? haha However, my week has consisted of many client meetings and work to handle so other than a few extra hours Tuesday.. off to work. You know that awkward moment when you have spaced out in a meeting and someone asks you what you think OR you are in the middle of updating a project to someone and you forget what you were going to say .. yeah- all thanks to my pleasant cold. Not to mention the feeling you get when you hand someone a paper and they hand sanitize before you even leave the room. Awesome.. I’m glad my horrendous cooties won’t infect you. I can see them now jump off my paper and swinging pirate style onto your body and pinning you down like Gulliver’s Travels. Okay.. now I’m starting to sound bitter.
But I was happy to retreat back to my condo with lots of tv shows I wouldn’t normally watch and toasted ham sandwiches. My mom always made me toasted ham sandwiches and frozen coke when I was sick.. did yours? This time since I had a sore throat (and possibly since it was below freezing outside) I traded the coke for hot tea. Which I really like and might pick up nightly tea drinking. These shows had a few marathons on and I was just beside myself to stare into space watching these while being mildly entertained.
and Kim of Queens
The child beauty queens and dancing prodigies were my saving grace the last 2 days. So today, I am feeling much more ‘up to snuff’ and feel happy about actually writing y’all a little blog post.
I think one more night of sleep and then I will be her Breezy Cheetah Pop self just in time for the weekend! Can I get a Whoo Hoo?
Let’s just get it out on the table… the first week of January sucks.
After the high of Christmas and New Year’s Eve, you look around and realize… it’s going to take hours to take this tree down and pack up all the decorations. So I ordered a pizza and took it all down this weekend. I just love how much cozier and cheery my house is at Christmas so I was sad to see it go. However, putting up my ‘normal’ house had some pretty awesome upgrades from Christmas presents. So now, my mood is back happy and ready to enjoy the interiors again… especially since it’s getting down to 20 tonight! Fireplace here I come.
Laura got me the cutest owl bookends for Christmas. I love them.. she actually got me the Alice book beside them for last Christmas! Good work Laura! haha
On the other side of the mantle, I won this pretty bird cage from Sandra’s Christmas party! Doesn’t it look so great with my ‘bird’ theme? Too bad that theme wasn’t planned.. I looked up one day and said… I have 15 birds on my mantle. haha oh well!
Sasquatch was really sad when I took down the Christmas tree, too. He slept under it everyday. It’s safe to say… I think he likes Christmas as much as I do! I had to fix it so I threw this table cover over my coffee table. It gets the job done for now.. he’s been sleeping under it all weekend.
Which leads me to my last favorite new home decor set… Mom got me the most beautiful table settings from Anthropologie for Christmas! I love them SOO much!
I love how all the plates are different animals. Anyone want to come over for a dinner party??
I got all separate glasses as well. I love things that don’t match but all come together nicely.
And last but not least, I picked these coasters up during the Holiday Sale last weekend at Anthropologie. I think these will get along just great with me and my friends!
