Florals are also a pretty big deal at a wedding, too. So they give you some of that…
Throw in a few surprises and that makes a Not Wedding!
On top of all these fabulous essentials, you’ll be testing out signature cocktails, dancing to a dj, meeting all the vendors for your big day and EVEN see an actual wedding! The coolest part about a Not Wedding is that a married couple will actually renew their vows in front of all of the guests.
So you might be asking, I TOTALLY want to go to this amazing event (with a friend) for FREE! It’s usually $30 a person but if you win this sweet contest, you’ll be saving money for that wedding as well as racking up the trendiest wedding ideas for your shindig!
To enter is easy- Go to my Facebook Page to enter! Just share the photo on your Facebook wall and you’re entered! While you’re there, go ahead and ‘like’ my page, too… It’ll only increase your chances!
I’ll pick a winner on Monday of next week (June 16th, 2014) so you’ll have plenty of time to get prepared for the awesomeness!
CONTEST CLOSED- Congratulations Jazmin Cortes!!
PS… I’ll be seeing you there! GOOD LUCK!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I’ve been interning, schooling, working and trying to enjoy my summer so blogging has been a little bit on the back burner lately. It’s so hard to see that beautiful sunny weather and get on the computer outside of work these days!
However, I wanted to show you a website I’ve been working on for a special friend! Coastal Vision Center seriously needed an update. Their site was dated and even some parts didn’t have any information like a blank services page- yikes!
I wanted to bring in a clean, white background so it had that nice professional feel. The photos and typography kept it friendly though. My best friend’s parents own Coastal Vision Center and they have 3 locations around the area. It was so much fun working with friends and I’m so pumped they liked it!
Hopefully, I can do this more often! Looks like I might be picking up another website for my internship at work… I’ll fill you in on that when I get it! Yippee!
Here is the link to the site HERE. Go check it out! They are a wonderful vision center and if you need an Eye Doctor, you have to try out Dr. Poston at Coastal Vision Center!
Today is Mom’s FINAL Last Day of School. Yep, she’s retiring from teaching! She’s one of the best and most dedicated teachers I know. I’ve seen here through the years, stay up late planning the cutest lessons and building props for history plays. She loves teaching so much, it’s hard to see her stop.
I wasn’t able to have her as a 1st grader since she was my mom but I always wanted to be in her class because she was always doing fun craft projects or exciting plays. She had an “art exhibit” this year for her kids. They were told that they were a part of the wax museum. Each child was assigned a well-known person from South Carolina and they had to dress up like them and act it out. The whole grade and parents came to see it.
The cool part of this… Each child had a paper button that says “Push” on their shoulder. They were wax people so they froze when people came in the room. If someone pushed their ‘button’, they came to life as their character. So cool, right? She’s just awesome.
So with that being said, I wanted Mom to feel really special on her very Last day of school. A few weeks ago, I reached out to as many of her former children as possible.. mostly all around my age.. and asked if they would help me congratulate her on her Retirement. I had people sending emails, photos, drawings from their 1st grade notebooks, letters of encouragement my mom had given them, and of course, sweet notes to her retelling stories and memories. It was an overwhelming amount of things that people sent and I was so excited to put a special book together for her. Even though I can’t capture her life’s work in one book, it would be an amazing piece of school she could always look back on.
To make the book, I ordered some colored crasp envelopes and bought a few pieces of scrapbook paper from AC Moore. That way, I could stuff letters, photos, whatever into the folders for her to keep and they won’t fall out. It’s really cute how it turned out!
The first page was a quote…
Each ‘student’ had their name and picture on an envelope. Here are the kind of awesome things people sent for the book…
The back was just another piece of scrapbook paper to hold it together.
I bound the book at FedEx Office. I was happily surprised that they do binding for only $3.99! Good thing to remember…
The book was STUFFED!
I wanted to get it delivered to her with helium balloons attached but the party store opened at 8 and I had to be at work by then. So, I found some water balloons and blew those up and made a “balloon vine” that hung off the package. It actually turned out cuter than real balloons I think!
I anonymously delivered it to her school and I got a text saying that she “ugly cried”. hahahaha- Good Job everyone for helping me make her day as special as she is! I appreciate everyone’s help on this! It turned out so much better than I anticipated:)
Have a wonderful weekend and a great start to your Summer!
Over the weekend, Mom got a Ninja and it’s really awesome. So of course, we had to make fresh strawberry daiquiris. The recipe was pretty easy and we just sort of tested it after adding ingredients. Here is what we did:
First, gather your strawberries. We ended up using double this:
Prepare your pretty glasses and ingredients- strawberries, granulated sugar, 1 lemon, Limeade, ice and white rum. My measuring is not very exact so just try different things until you get the best taste for you!
Add a few cups of ice almost 3/4 of the blender.
Add 1 shot of rum for each serving.
Add a spoonful of limeade- don’t add more than this!
Add 3/4 of a shot of sugar.
Squeeze in juice of a half a lemon.
Mix well so you don’t have any chunks.
And there you have it! A delicious strawberry daiquiri to enjoy on the back porch on a nice summer night.
Sasquatch even enjoyed getting a little outside time with the family!
I’ve been a busy girl lately working and playing. I promise to get back to some great posts for the summer! In the meantime, this is what I was doing last week…
I went to an art show at Collector’s Cafe and felt really cultured. My friend, Brent was kind enough to go with me. The giraffe was my favorite.. and his name is Henry.
Laura and I went down to the inlet and did the marsh walk thing. We ate at Wicked Tuna and it was so good! I loved sitting on the patio. It had been ‘hailing’ that day so my hair was all afro-y sitting outside. But it was worth it to take in the marina and have some fun cocktails with dinner. We found some great bands later and even ran into Sandra from work!
The hail storm completely messed up my car.. dings everywhere and a cracked window! WTH! I’ve been dealing with no air in my car (got that fixed), then no air in my condo (got fixed), to car hailed on (getting fixed). What do they say… bad things come in three’s?
I went to the beach on Saturday and it was beautiful. I am SO pale and wanted to stay a while and read my last Divergent book so I brought an umbrella. #whitegirlproblems
I had a special Memorial Day so I got gel nails at Nail Couture. They are so sweet in there and they looked fabulous so of course, I had to take a picture. Now, if only I could get away from dark polish even though it’s summer.
That night, I met Chelsey and Stephanie at Bourbon Street to see Andrew Conner play. He was pretty good but honestly, I’m not a country fan at all however, I’m super happy he played some songs I knew! Had a fun night with the gals!
On Sunday, that kind of rounds out my week. I took myself to breakfast at Eggs Up and taught myself Dreamweaver. My eyes were glazing over after 5 minutes so my waffles were a great distraction. Wish I had the summer off but I’m just hoping I can get through this class!
I hope you guys had a fabulous weekend and a great start to the week! I’ll try to keep up better on here! Sometimes, I just have to let go and enjoy Summer!
