Dating Website Week 2
After a few cocktails at HH, we decided to walk next door and grab dinner. I sent Bree a text around 5:30 in the morning to relay feedback (nothing good happens until AFTER midnight).
Tequila makes her clothes fall off…. wasn't a fan of this song until now.
So I've been running about the house like a busy little bee today in preparation for a party I'm throwing tonight. It's not just ANY party.. It's my friends Erin's 25th Birthday party and to top it all off.. IT'S HARRY POTTER themed! I'm so pumped, I almost can't contain myself. I'll update you on how it goes tomorrow but here's my little invitation to hold you over till the real thing!
Being a couple minutes late for work, I debated if that morning coke was really necessary or not to get through the day. It only takes one second so I decided- yes, it was. I walked into the corner convenience store and was happy to see another DSL employee in line. We said hello and I went to grab my coke from the fridge real quick. I hardly get to see the man I exchanged a hello to since he works in a different building but at our work, we're all like a little family so it's always great to see someone out of work. I walk up to the line, fiddle with my wallet to get out my $.89 when he turns and says to the cashier, "I have hers". I start to protest and say he doesn't have to do that but he insist.
Then a snarky 'too cool for school' young guy walks up and says, "Well if you're getting hers, can you get my coffee, too?" Not missing a beat, Terry says absolutely and pulled out one more dollar bill. Now, the boy feels bad and tries to stop him but Terry just says he's happy to do it. We talk for a few minutes outside the store and then we go on our way to work. One little act of kindness, whether that boy deserved it or not, is all it takes. I bet he's drinking his coffee and thinking, this is the best free cup of coffee I've ever had and grateful for the thought of a complete stranger just being a human being.
With so many awful people today, we forget the good in people. Just yesterday, we had a shooting at our mall. Our mall. Sorry to go off on a tangent but that little act just really hit me and I needed to share. I have always tried to surround myself with people that lift me up instead of tear me down and I work on myself to be this way as well. I love all of my friends and family and I'm so happy to have each person strategically placed in my life. Life is good and today was just a reminder to take care of people.. even if it's just one cup of coffee.
