With school winding down for the semester, I am beyond excited to have a little ‘free time’!! I started to forget what that meant! Since the weather is beautiful lately, I wanted to spruce up the house with a fun little wreath project. You guys loved the burlap and paper flower wreath I did HERE so I wanted to give you the 2014 version! Go ahead… Knock over (haha get it?) all of your guest with this fun craft idea!
This project was cheap and quick… AND easy! I had most of the materials already so the project was really only about $6.
What you’ll need:
Wood wreath (from Walmart- Only $4- the larger ones are about $7)
Fabric Flowers (only $99 at A.C.Moore)
flower wire (not pictured)
glitter tape (optional)
Gather your materials. What’s great about this project is that you can do anything you like- different colored flowers, funky glitter or you could even spray paint your wooden wreath white.. anything goes.
First, I cut the flowers off of my bunch so they only had about an inch of stem coming from them.
Next, squirt some glue out onto a plate. With your paintbrush, dab on polka dots of glue for your glitter.
Next, shake glitter onto the glue dots. Let them sit for a second then tap off the excess glitter that didn’t stick. Make sure you do this over a piece of paper so you can save all the extra. Who wants glitter to go to waste?? Finish up the other polka dot flowers and let these sit for an hour.
With your flower wire, poke through the base of the flowers from one edge to the other. Twist the ends behind the flower (like you’re sealing up a bag of bread) and then weave them into your wooden wreath. They will poke out but the wire is bend-y so just wedge them into the wood so they are secure and you can’t see them.
Of course, I can’t let anything go away too plain so I taped on some gold glitter tape into the wood as well. It’s sparkly in the light but my photo isn’t showing that.
Tie in a fishing line to hang it and you’re all set! You can use as much creativity on this project as you want. I love the sparkle factor it added to my door. Hope you like it and Happy May Everyone!
