It has been my first week out of school and I’ve just been piddling this week not really writing or doing too much outside of work. Guess what? I made straight A’s this semester! Yippee!! My goal is to make all A’s during my whole Associates Degree career now.
So back to the post, I didn’t want it to get too far away from my weekend trip to Wilmington. Ever since NY, I’ve been wanting to explore and get out of town even more! Laura and I decided to go to Wilmington for a night last weekend and it really is a cool little place with lots of eclectic people.
We did the tourist thing..
It happened to be a gorgeous weekend so it was perfect weather walking around for two days. We went shopping in some of the cool shops downtown. Wilmington is sneaky trendy, y’all. The downtown is lined with restaurant, shop, bar, restaurant, shop, bar (etc.) and all of them are unique. One of my favorite stores we went into was …
It’s like an Urban Outfitters but not trying too hard.
We found a cool area called the Cotton Exchange. It had lots of shops hidden away and the building was historic. I really want to go back to walk around more of it.
After shopping all afternoon, we passed a sign that we couldn’t say no to..
SO this happened and we met the cutest girl with tattoos and grey hair that worked there. She told us all about some interesting restaurants to try that night.
Side note: I feel, like, really cool being in Wilmington. Everyone you pass has tattoos or dyed hair or a beard or cool shoes. The young people in Wilmington have such personalities when it comes to style. I really liked just watching everyone. and they are all pretty normal, I was half expecting the places grey hair was telling us about to be triple vegan gluten free with a side of wheatgrass but it was stuff I would like! Note to self.. no more judging interesting looking people on their food habits…
The suggestion we tried for dinner was a new restaurant called Rx. It was so pretty and sophisticated inside. I felt so fancy, I had to get a cheese plate!
BTW- my new favorite thing might be cheese plates. I’ve never met a cheese plate I didn’t like!
I have never been to Wilmington for the night before so Laura and I wanted to bar hop around and find some cool spots. She was on the hunt for live music and we did find one guy playing but that was short lived after being talked to death by a group of rowdy marine guys.
The best place we went was a bar called Bar Local. I loved sitting outside and it was right next to a tattoo parlor. So, obviously, Laura got some tattoos..
The next morning, we wanted to grab brunch and hit the road because we both had our final ‘final’ exams that Monday. On the way to Dixie Grill, we passed this…
I took a lot of photos so we could Google the characters and see WHO was actually inside that trailer.
Their just happened to be an Isaiah Washington in that trailer!! How COOL is that? And that’s just a normal day in Wilmington. I bet you get to see all kinds of neat people if you live there. Just like it’s sneaky trendy, it seems like their are a lot of bars and restaurants where celebs can be sneaky private.
Apparently everyone wanted to go to the brunch place we went to. After a 20 minute late, we were escorted to our seat and the menu looked fabulous. Laura even got her live music..
All that was on my mind were pancakes so I got those! This is syrup.. good idea, huh?
